My Story
I discovered my passion for accounting pretty early on in my teenage years. I decided to pursue it as a career and obtained tertiary education in this field. I worked as an accountant after graduation; a pretty conventional and predictable path for my generation. While working full time, I continued to pursue my education in accounting. I was sure that I was on the path towards a promising career and a fulfilling life.
Then 2020 happened. Needless to say, it was a significant year for all of us due to the global pandemic. But it was even more so for me and my husband because we welcomed our baby boy to the world in that same year. These life changing events led me to reflect deeply on my life, my values and priorities.
Over the next few years, I began to question the purpose of my life, what does it mean to be happy, and what is the most important to me in my life. After plenty of contemplation and trial and error, I decided to start my own bookkeeping business. I recognized that I still like debits and credits, as nerdy as that sounds, but perhaps I am no longer suited for corporate setting.
I would like to meet people from different walks of life and connect with them at a personal level. I would like to make good use of my vocation and contribute to the society is a meaningful way. For me, this path is through offering bookkeeping services. I believe this is my ikigai and I will pursue it with utmost sincerity.
Why I chose the name Bougain for my business? Bougain is short for bougainvillea. Its vibrant pink and purple flowers remind me of my childhood in Ipoh, a small city in Malaysia. My maternal grandmother kept a good collection of bougainvillea in our front porch. To me, bougainvillea represents fond memories. It means a lot to me to incorporate a fragment of my past into my present and future, to remind me of my roots and how far I have come as a person, a daughter, a wife, a mother and now a business owner.

For our Monthly Bookkeeping service, we offer a monthly flat-rate pricing structure. This means you'll always know what to expect without any surprises. Our rate is determined by factors such as volume of transactions and complexity of your business, allowing us to tailor our approach to meet your specific needs.
As for our Bookkeeping Catch-up/Cleanup and QuickBooks Online Setup services, we implement a one-time fee for each project. Similar to our monthly service, the rate is determined by volume and complexity of the project, ensuring you receive customized support at a fair price.
